A Call to Action – 2025
LDP needs sustainable funding to continue. Index Data’s subsidy model is ending. We’re seeking Sustaining Funders ($12,000+ annually) or Friends of LDP ($1,500 annually). Without community support, LDP development stops and you’ll be forced back to expensive vendor solutions costing $20,000-50,000+ annually.
To help sustain LDP, reach out to the LDP Governance team to join the funding organizations.

The Full Story
The Library Data Platform has been subsidized by Index Data since its inception, but this model is unsustainable. Without community funding, LDP development will stall and the platform may become unavailable.
If you are a Funder, you organization will receive:
- Advance the community toward guaranteed platform continuity and sustained development and support
- Voice in technical roadmap decisions
- Direct implementation support and priority consultation
- Recognition as a sustaining partner
- Vote in Treasurer/Secretary elections
If you choose not to contribute funding you are accepting the risk of platform discontinuation or having no influence on priorities. Ultimately if community funding fall short, libraries will be forced back to inferior but expensive vendor solutions costing $20,000-50,000+ annually.
We’re building a sustainable funding model with two tiers. The funding directly subsidizes ongoing development effort.
Sustaining Funders contribute $12,000+ annually with a three-year commitment.
For organizations that can’t commit at that level, we have a Friends of LDP level, which will contribute $1,500 annually to support LDP’s sustainability and the broader FOLIO community. Friends of LDP will also be recognized on this site.
We’re grateful for existing community support, but volunteer contributions alone cannot replace sustainable funding. Index Data provides lead development, Cornell University’s Simeon Warner serves as Treasurer, Scott Perry from University of Chicago serves as Secretary, and the FOLIO Reporting SIG provides ongoing guidance.
