Join the Library Data Platform Community
The Library Data Platform (LDP) is the first scalable analytics platform designed specifically for libraries that is 100% community owned and open source. Led by Index Data with growing community involvement, LDP brings powerful analytics capabilities to libraries while eliminating vendor lock-in.
How You Can Help
Being part of the FOLIO Reporting SIG is a great way to contribute to LDP. Members of this group collaborate on queries, documentation, and feature requests that shape the future of library analytics. If you have SQL expertise, consider contributing to the various query repositories, which provide valuable analytics templates for libraries. Documentation help is also needed – whether writing user guides, creating tutorials, or improving technical documentation. Your perspective as a library user helps ensure LDP meets real-world needs.
Code and Testing
From Metadb (our core software) to the Reporting App for FOLIO/ReShare (ui-ldp and mod-ldp modules) to LDLite, developers can find many ways to contribute. We need help with feature development, performance improvements, bug fixes, and code reviews. Testing is equally crucial – helping test new releases, confirming bug fixes, or developing automated tests ensures LDP remains stable and reliable for libraries worldwide. The project uses GitHub for version control, making it easy to submit pull requests and collaborate with other developers.
Funding
Organizations can become Funders by contributing financially ($15,000+ annually) to sustain development and gain a voice in project governance through the election of the Treasurer. Your financial support ensures continuous improvement of this essential community resource and helps fund new features and improvements requested by libraries. Funds primarily support development work led by Index Data, the technical leader of the project, but may also cover other project expenses as determined by the project managers.
